Highlights for the season 2019/2020 for Norwegian tenor Petter Moen include his return at the Norwegian National Opera for his role role-debut as Goro in Madama Butterfly, the role of Bill in Jonathan Dove’s Flight at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater and 2nd Jude in Salome at the Opera in Bergen with Edward Gardner conducting.
He recently sang the The Novice in a new production of Billy Budd at the Norwegian National Opera, Der Offizier in Katie Mitchell’s production of Ariadne auf Naxos at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées with Jérémie Rhorer conducting and at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence under the baton of Marc Albrecht.
Other past engagements include the role of Froh in Das Rheingold, Chekalinsky in Pique Dame and Heinrich der Schreiber in Tannhäuser all at Theater Chemnitz, the role of Eurimaco in Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria at Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik with Alessandro De Marchi conducting, the roles of Tanzmeister and Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos at the Nordnorsk Opera with the Artic Philharmonic Orchestra, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte at Opera Østfold and the role of Scitalce in Leonardo Vinci’s Semiramide Riconosciuta at the Händel-Festspiele in Halle with Bach Consort Wien.
At the Norwegian National Opera in Oslo he performed roles such as Le Remendado in Carmen, Eurimaco in Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria and Don Curzio in Le Nozze di Figaro.
Petter sang the role of Mosquito in The Cunning little Vixen at the Royal Danish Opera, Kurt Weill's Die Sieben Todsünden with the Copenhagen Phil with conductor Lawrence Foster and the role of Almaviva in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Wermland Opera in Karlstad, Sweden.
On the concert platform, his repertoire includes Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium, Johannes-Passion (arias and evangelist), B-minor mass, Magnificat and Matthäus-Passion (arias). Furthermore he sang works such as Händel’s Messiah, Telemann's Der Tod Jesu and Rossini's Stabat Mater.
Petter Moen began his musical studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, and later graduated at the Academy of the Royal Opera in Copenhagen. Already during his studies he performed roles such as Belfiore in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera, Ramiro in Rossini’s La Cenerentola and Alfred in Die Fledermaus.
