Recent highlights for Norwegian soprano Kari Postma include the title role in Catalani's La Wally at the Volksoper Wien, the title-role in Willy Decker’s staging of Katya Kabanova at the Norwegian National Opera, Tatyana in Eugene Onegin in a co-production between the Arctic Philharmonic and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, as well as concerts with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, The Residentie Orkest The Hague, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Copenhagen Philharmonic, and performances of Strauss’ Vier Letzte Lieder with Odense Symphony Orchestra in Denmark.
Highlights for the season 2018/2019 include her debut as Tosca at the Nederlandse Reisopera and Otrud in a concert version of Lohengrin with the Victoria Symphony Orchestra in Canada.
In most recent years, she has sung roles such as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro, Violetta in La Traviata, Leonora in Il Trovatore, Mimì in La Bohème, Liú in Turandot and Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus.
Kari has performed on some of the most prestigious stages in Scandinavia and Europe, including roles at the Komische Oper Berlin, the Norwegian National Opera, Royal Danish Opera and as a member of the ensemble at the Staatsoper Hamburg. Her concert repertoire included works such as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Missa Solemnis, Brahms ‘ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Britten’s War Requiem, Dvorak’s Requiem, Te Deum and Stabat Mater, Mahler’s Symphonies Nos. 2, 4 and 8, Janácek’s Glagolitic Mass, Sibelius ‘ Orchestral Songs and Mendelssohn’s Elias and Psalm 42.
Kari Postma is winner of the Queen Sonja International Music Competition, has won first prize in the International Phillips music Competition, second prize and special prize of the Leipzig Opera in the Francisco Vinas International Singing Contest and was a finalist in the Montserrat Caballé International Singing Competition.
